So the wildfires in SoCal are definitely a lot more serious than I thought. The fires are not too far north from our campus but UCSD decided to close down for the whole week because of the shitty air quality. I actually got a flight back to Portland yesterday evening to avoid the whole mess down in San Diego since there is absolutely nothing to do there, the air smells like straight up campfire, and I have a feeling that our campus may get evacuated within the next 2 days. If you wanna chill, I will be home this week until Monday or whenever the fires are under control.
By the way, RIP Sam Wasson. It was hard hearing this news after all the shit happening around SD. I wish I got to know him better, but I will remember him as a genuinely kind person easy to talk to on top of his numerous performances in many Jesuit drama production. |

So...I'm sitting here slightly ADD off the Frappio energy drink which i took earlier to study feeling the need to make a post since I havent done so in nearly 4 months. Anyways I was reflecting on the year as a whole. Sure the year has gone by fast, I've made a whole bunch of friends, I've learned how to manage my time well. But the one thing I'm still confused about is what kind of people to hang around to pursue as good long lasting friends in years to come. I feel I've been exposed to a lot of realities that I would have never seen if I ended up somewhere else, but I just dont know where to draw the line between whats right and whats wrong. It's become pretty normal to see people getting high nearly everyday in my suite. But tonight I came back from studying and saw one of my good girl friends snorting cocaine off my desk along with one of my suitemates. This girl is my roommate's best friend (my roommate is a staunch christian and completely anti-drug) and I guess she's completely betraying him by secretly sniffing coke behind his back. This girl is also on academic probation and has openly admitted to having breast cancer. Yet no one is stopping her from fucking up her body even more. Of course I want to act cool about this cuz their my friends. But I dont get why people risk friendships just for a good feeling of power. I was pretty shocked to find this going on. |

Goa is so awesome. its by far the cleanest place in India and everyone is so friendly. the best part is that everything here is dirt cheap. I got these quality waterproof sandals for 109 rupees ~ $2.50. for 1 hour in a non-Air conditioned internet cafe, it costs 10 rupees/hour ~ just less than a quarter. movie ticks are bout $2. anyways, I leave for Quepem (southern Goa) this afternoon for 4 days. its a village society with limited electricity so i prolly wont have net access until i get back to the main city. cya |

so here I am in an internet cafe in the Bombay airport. I've been in Bombay for 3 days and leaving for Goa in about an hour. So far the craziest part of the trip was the numerous blasts that occured on the train stations. we were out shopping in the middle of Bombay for clothes and the seller knew about the bombs but never bothered to tell us because he wanted to keep his business going. asshole! neways g2g. will update later |

Ok. ive been looking for a laptop for a while and i think i may have found a good deal on a Dell Inspiron e1505. I know its a dell and inspirons are shitty looking but the specs are decent for the price. tell me what u guys think...
specs: Intel Core Duo Processor T2500 at 1.66 GHz per core Windows Media Center Edition 2005 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA Display with TrueLife™ 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm 60GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card (54Mbps) 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™ 85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
The weight is about 6.5lbs (which is OK), and with the 9-cell battery i can probably get 5+ hours of battery life. after all dell discounts and my mom's affiliate's discount. the price comes out to be $1122.00. |

| college decision |
[Apr. 24th, 2006|10:00 pm] |
|
So after my little dilemma of where i should go for colleges mainly out of my top 5: Purdue, Illinois, UCSD, UW, and Santa Clara, ive finally decided to go to UCSD. it was prolly one of the toughest decisions ive made in my life, but now i'm happy to be a triton. the campus is amazing 2000+ acres, engineering is top-notch in every field, close to the beach, great weather, 22,000 students which is just right, maybe a bit too asian (40%), plenty of girls and parties!, and its San Diego. what else could i want? i cant dwell over my decision forever. |
